Welcome to Nursery!

At Knaphill Lower School Nursery we aim to secure the highest possible standards of attainment for all children in an inclusive and nurturing environment. We adapt the EYFS curriculum to suit the needs of each individual child, providing them with the skills and love for lifelong learning.

Knaphill Lower School Nursery is caring and nurturing. The setting has a large indoor area, providing a secure and stimulating place in which your child can develop, explore, achieve and enjoy. The Nursery provides a full range of activities working from the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum. The Nursery environments and staff encourage all children to become happy confident and independent learners, which enables the children to make a smooth transition to school.

The Nursery Garden is an important and special space, with free flow access which is enjoyed throughout every day by the children. The large canopy allows for outdoor learning opportunities whatever the weather, and its trees and play houses provide shade for the occasional sunny day, making the outdoors a valuable resource all year round.

The children enjoy a large range of physical activities including den building, bikes, scooters, climbing, obstacle course, digging, large scale construction and role play. There are plenty of opportunities for dressing up, water and messy play. The children enjoy observing the environment outside change, watching the flowers, animals, birds and insects emerge. We take care to protect and respect our natural environment, finding ways to nurture and encourage the animals and plant life.

Our Nursery area, both inside and out, is ideal for discovery and exploration, and our open ended resources support the children to carry out investigations, work together, compromise and share, take risks, gain independence and have lots of fun!
