  2. Exceptional social/medical needs

OVER SUBSCRIPTION

If there is over subscription within any criteria, priority is given according to the distance from the pupil’s permanent home address to the school. Distance is measured by a straight line from the address point of the pupil’s house, as set by Ordnance Survey to the nearest school gate for pupils to use. You can find out how far you are from the school via Surrey County Council’s website (links below).

IN YEAR ADMISSIONS

As with Reception admissions, Surrey County Council co-ordinates requests for the transfer to a new School across the County. If there is a space available in the year group requested, you will, under normal circumstances, be offered the place. If there is no place available, your name will be added to our waiting list and we will contact you if a place becomes available.

To apply for an in year place, please go to the In Year Admissions section of the Surrey County Council website.

RECEPTION ADMISSIONS 2025 – TOURS AND STAY AND PLAY SESSIONS

Choosing a primary school place can be difficult; one of the best ways to help make that decision is by visiting your local primary schools. We are always delighted to invite parents and carers to a tour of Knaphill Lower School where you will see the learning environment in action and meet members of the teaching team. Tours typically last for 30 minutes and dates for our 2025 reception intake are running throughout October and November – please click on the link below for dates and to book your place or call us on 01483 473282:

STAY AND PLAY SESSIONS

At Knaphill Lower School we understand how vital it is for children to feel confident and happy in their learning environments. Therefore, we would like to invite children (aged 3 & 4) to attend a stay and play session with their parents and carers – date to be announced. Your children will have the opportunity to experience some time in the learning environment playing with some of the resources. Parents and Carers will have time to speak to some of the teaching team and ask any questions they may have. Places will be limited, so please click on the following link to book your place or call us on 01483 473282:

APPEALS

Current legislation only allows an Appeal Panel to uphold an appeal on one or both of the following grounds:

  • The child was wrongly refused a place in error as the admission rules were not followed properly or were contrary to mandatory provisions
  • The decision not to admit the child was unreasonable in a legal sense

If you live outside of the area that offers were made too, then appealing will not give you a place in the school. However, should you feel that we have not applied the correct process to your application and wish to appeal our decision, then please see the Surrey School Admission Appeals page for further details. Please note that we follow the Surrey School admission appeals timetable.
